Hanika International Guitar Competition in Bangkok

Our collaboration with Detwid Kulyadul and Worrapat Yansupap from "Ayada Guitars" in Bangkok started in 2020 and since then we could send many high-quality Hanika guitars to Thailand.

Now the first “AYADA CLASSICAL GUITAR FESTIVAL & HANIKA INTERNATIONAL GUITAR COMPETITION 2024” took place in the “Bangkok Art & Culture Center” from November 1st to 3rd; three days of competition, concerts and an exhibition with classical concert guitars, other music instruments and lot´s of things for classical guitar.

The main prize for the best guitarist in the competition was a specially built Hanika 1a-DTL, which Armin Hanika donated together with Ayada Guitars. He was invited to Bangkok, together with Gergely Szurgyi, to personally present the award to the winner of the “Virtuoso Category”.

The competition started with a concert by our co-worker, Gergely Szurgyi, which you can watch and listen to here. He plays the prize-winning guitar and an eight-string concert guitar, our Hanika 8-Meister.

The first “HANIKA INTERNATIONAL GUITAR COMPETITION 2024” was won by a 16-year-old guitarist from Thailand, Nutthachai Chaivanich. He convinced the jury with his very dynamic and contrasting playing, his excellent technique and great precision.

He won over the jury and the audience in the final with the following pieces:

  • Introduction et Caprice, Op. 23 by G. Regondi

  • Rito de los Orishas : II. Danza de las Diosas Negras by L. Brouwer

  • Open Up Your Ears by B. Johanson

Nutthachai played the competition on a borrowed guitar and we hope he will continue to develop his skills with the “Hanika 1a-DTL Custom” he now owns. The prize-winning guitar will support him with its extremely fast attack, a round and dark tone and particularly full-bodied bass. We wish him all the best for the future.

Our special thanks go to Mr. Detwid Kulyadul as well as Mr. Worrapat Yansupap and the entire team at Ayada Guitars for the friendly invitation and the excellent hospitality during our time in Bangkok.
