Cutting the logs - Part 1 - wild cherry

With the first days of May we started to cut the wood, we purchased by auction in the wood submission. We decided to start with the wild cherry log. The first step was to free the log from its bark and to decide where the important first cut has to be. Afterwards the trunk was planed at one side to have a nice flat surface so that it couldn't roll off the table when sawing. But soon it turned out that, according to the large diameter, the limits of the saw and also of our manpower were reached. So what now?
